Arsenal Defender Thomas Vermaelen criticized former Arsenal players who left the club in the summer, stating his belief that players should stay and fight instead of seeking a new club.

He told the Express: “People always think that when times are difficult it will be better if they go to another club. But when it’s tough, it doesn’t mean you have to quit. You have to fight for it.

“You can always go somewhere else but it doesn’t mean that somewhere else is better. Arsenal is a really nice club and I feel at home here. The board, the boss and the fans give me a lot of belief. Why should I leave?”

He also express his delight at his contract extension and insisted that Gunners could challenge at the top of the Premier League.

“I think we can challenge the other clubs in England, like Manchester City and Manchester United,” he continued.

“We had to look out ourselves when our start to this season wasn’t perfect. We had to fight for every point and we did that. I believe we can now grow and get better and better.

“I think the structure of the club is really good and I believe in the club. That’s why I have signed a new contract with Arsenal.”

Arsene Wenger is considering bids to sign Man City duo Kolo Toure and Nigel de Jong with £15m on table for them.

City would consider the offer because they need to trim their squad ahead of adopting of Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regulation which require Mancini to cut the club’s wage bill.

De Jong may be interested in a move to Arsenal if it could secure him a regular first team, while Wenger wants to add more steel to his midfield to give his creative players more protection, and to his defensive options by making a move for former defender Kolo Toure who has become something of a forgotten man at Man City.

Wenger may look to make a move for the 30 year old in January and is said to be ready to offer the former fan favourite an 18 month deal and Mancini may well be ready to allow such a move to take place.

Manchester city are after Arsenal prized asset Robin Van Persie as they look to become Europe’s best, their 42 goals in 12 Premier League matched seems not be enough to the oil-rich Owners.

Manchester City will react to the exit of Carlos Tevez by stepping up their attempt to sign Robin Van Persie this summer.

Some source believe that Roberto Mancini may offer £40m to tempt Arsenal into selling, its also believe that Mancini is after Cavani, but Van Persie’s experience in Champions League and Premier League would be Mancini’s main priority.

Robin Van Persie has netted an incredible 44 goals for club and country in 2011 and put to bed the long standing injury issues that had plagued the former Feyenoord man for quite some time.

Keown told Metro Sport:”We Trust in Wenger on any new signings, perhaps we need a center Forward.Henry is now training with the team and it’d be nice if he came in on a loan period, but that would only be a short term solution.
